Mirror Training Week 1 – 16th July - 20th July 2012
Mirror Training Week 2 – 23rd – 27th July 2012
The course is aimed at beginners and intermediates aged 8 to 12 years old to develop a range of sailing skills and background knowledge, to improve confidence and to have lots of fun.
It is run by RYA certified instructors and a team of experienced teenagers, all of whom are Itchenor Sailing Club members. The younger instructors are available to sail with less experienced boats if and when necessary and on days when wind conditions are stronger.
All children attending the course must be ISC members. Helms must be confident sailing upwind, tacking and have basic wind awareness. Crews may be complete beginners although children should have some experience of sailing. Beginner crews will be allocated to suitable helms. All children must be confident swimmers.
This year the club is running 4 training sessions and lots of racing before the Mirror Training week. Beginners and less experienced helms and crews are advised to join these sessions to gain experience and confidence which will enhance their experience during the training week
Members will have a choice of attending either week 1 or week 2 of the Training Week. Places are on a first come basis, there will be a maximum of 20 boats per week. Application forms will be available to download from Monday the 19th March. Printed copies will also be sent in the Spring Mailing.
